Hi, I’m Jane – the J in JP Orkney!
I have fond childhood memories of the island, while Paul enjoyed adventure holidays here. When an opportunity came up for us to move to Orkney we jumped at the chance, knowing our son would grow up in a place rich and diverse in natural wonders.
We’re based in Birsay, right by the beach. Our favourite pastimes are groatie buckie hunting, and chatting to the colony of seals relaxing in the bay. Ask us for our top tips on finding a groatie buckie!
I have 20 years’ hospitality experience; which has given great awareness of the demands of arranging tours and the needs of holiday guests. After a period working in Bejing, I retrained as a teacher of Nutrition and Home Economics. Fifteen years later I am still teaching and part of a successful team at Stromness Academy.
My qualifications include BSc Honours Food Systems and Quality Assurance, Advanced Food Hygiene, Level 2 Wines and Spirits and HND Hospitality Business Management.
Hi, I’m Paul.
I have more than 20 years’ customer-facing experience working in several industries.
In my spare time I went back to school and spent a year studying at the University of Highlands and Islands. As a result I am now a fully accredited member of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association and a proud member of the Orkney Tourist Guides Association.
As well as spending time exploring Orkney on land, I love to get in the sea and am a member of the wild swimming group Orkney Polar Bears (if you ask, you can meet the other bears). You can often find me in just my shorts swimming in the Atlantic or the North Sea. I also like to get the paddle board out and float around shipwrecks.
Along with Jane, we’re here to help you experience and savour the best sights and flavours Orkney has to offer.
