Orkney Rhubarb Chutney (125g)
Jane and Paul’s Orkney Produce range was developed through our love of working with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients to create luxury, bespoke treats for you, and gifts for others. All JP Orkney Produce is homemade with care in our Birsay kitchen, right by the sea.
Our Orkney Rhubarb Chutney has an excellent balance of sweetness and acidity. The vinegar doesn’t overpower at any point. Soft consistency with an especially fruity depth. Don’t be afraid to use it in homemade sausage rolls, soft and hard cheese, meats or simply with butter and oatcakes. A markedly delicious all-rounder!
Imagine spreading a dollop of our Orcadian Chutney onto the freshly baked crust of a homemade sausage roll. Or, the robust, full-bodied flavour of hard cheese melting emphatically with each bite.
Our chutney is bursting with Orkney rhubarb, sugar, red onions, apples, red wine vinegar, root ginger, raisins, dates, mustard seeds, curry powder, and a pinch of salt.
Recipes are prepared in a kitchen that does use nuts and gluten. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Chutney History
Chutney can be traced back to the diverse culinary traditions of the Indian subcontinent about 500 BC. Our Orkney Chutney similarly dances to the rhythmic recipes passed down through generations. It’s a spin on the ‘Western-style chutneys’, which certainly owe their vibrant existence to the creative cultural blend during the British Raj. We also draw inspiration from the culinary adventures of yore, imbibing them with our Orcadian spirit and flare.
